The grants $10,000, were presented by Mr. Stuart Davidson on behalf of the Pamela Davidson Estate trustees to twelve students from various faculties at the institute.
The ceremony was attended by: HIT’s President Prof. Eduard Yakubov, Institute CEO Mr. Shmuel Goldberg, Dean of Students Dr. Limor Sahar-Inbar, Michal Zacharia - Director of the Student Advancement and Resilience Center, Judith Haimoff - Senior Advisor to the President, and Gideon Selinger - Advisor to HIT’s CEO.
Representing the Pamela Davidson Estate were: Scott Davidson, Stuart Davidson, Deborah Adler, and Scott Goldstein.
Student representatives among the grant recipients included: Mihari Israel, Tzegao Astwel, Adamsu Eliran, Adnani Eden, Amba Samacho, and Takelo Kapala, who shared their personal stories.
During the meeting, Prof. Eduard Yakubov presented a comprehensive overview of HIT's history and academic programs to the guests and commended the generous and significant contribution from the Pamela Davidson Estate. He also expressed deep appreciation for selecting HIT students as recipients of this generous donation.
Michal Zacharia said: "I feel privileged to accompany Ethiopian-Israeli students until they receive their diploma, and proud that their numbers have steadily increased from nine in the program's first year to about 150 students today."
Dr. Limor Sahar-Inbar, Dean of Students, noted that the support system provided by the institute to all students, including Ethiopian-Israelis, includes personal attention to each student, psychological and emotional support in addition to academic assistance. "Your generous contribution will allow them to focus on their studies without worrying about financial subsistence, and for that we are deeply grateful," Dr. Sahar-Inbar noted.
Stuart Davidson, a trustee of the late Pamela Davidson's estate, spoke on behalf of the other trustees and said: "We all want to tell you today how proud we are of you, especially in these complex times. We thank you for your military service, for your bravery, and for defending the country. We have been working with the Ethiopian community since their first immigration to Israel and know many families where children were forced by circumstances to become parents to their parents. The challenges you've faced are extraordinary, and in your achievements, we see the future of the Jewish people. We are proud of you and love you."
