Prof. Arie Feuer Appointed Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at HIT

Inspiring Professional Background and Academic Journey
Prof. Feuer completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering at Technion and earned his Ph.D. in Control Systems from the prestigious Yale University. His research focused on adaptive systems, which can adjust to dynamic changes - a field that continues to form the basis for innovative technological solutions in industry and research.
Prof. Feuer worked later at Bell Laboratories in the United States - one of the world's leading technological research and development facilities. For five years, he worked on cutting-edge technology projects, bridging academic research with industrial applications.
Unique Contribution to Academia and Industry
In 1983, Prof. Feuer returned to Israel and joined the Technion's Faculty of Electrical Engineering as a lecturer, where he became a tenured professor and eventually Professor Emeritus. During his tenure, he served on the Board of Directors and Senate, significantly influencing the shaping of education and research in the field.
Beyond academia, Prof. Feuer founded a startup in the field of medical ultrasound, which collaborated with GE Israel. The company developed breakthrough capabilities for improving medical system performance, leading to global innovation in imaging.
International Achievements
Prof. Feuer has received numerous international awards and recognition, including an honorary doctorate degree from the University of Newcastle in Australia for scientific collaborations in control systems. He is a member of the IEE, a prestigious global organization, which recognized him as a FELLOW for his significant contributions to research and technology.
Vision for the Faculty's Future.
In his new role, Prof. Feuer plans to on multidisciplinary subjects combining engineering and biology, artificial intelligence, smart control systems, and advanced energy technologies. He emphasizes the importance of connecting multidisciplinary research with practical applications in industry, while training the next generation of electrical and electronics engineers to tackle global technological challenges in various fields including engineering, sciences, life sciences and medicine, agriculture, food and water, and more.
