Academy from East to West - Exchange Students at HIT

Culture, academia and excellence were among the decisive factors of why a group of students from India came all the way from University to the Faculty of Design at HIT- Holon Institute of Technology.

HIT is proud to open the 2022 academic year with 5,300 degree students, of which approximately 2,000 are freshmen students making their way into the academy for the first time. 

Some transversed the campus in a few short steps, from the new dormitory buildings which just opened now; others travelled from overseas. HIT maintains close ties with over 130 leading academic institutions in the world in over 35 different countries. Within this framework, exchange students and lecturers from all over the world journey to the HIT campus for a semester of studies. In a show of reciprocity, representatives of HIT travel overseas institutions to pursue studies and research as well. 

 "We are happy to host here, and this semester, around 60 students from the best academic institutions of Italy, Germany, India , France, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan are our guests" says Ira Ivshin Guetta, International Partners and Programs Manager at HIT. "The creative collaborations between different cultures are immeasurably important and necessary both socially and academically.”

The Corona pandemic that impacted on all higher education and academia worldwide actually promoted the initiation of student exchange programs. Now that they have come to fruition, HIT is very excited to welcome these students.
"I chose to do this semester specifically in Israel and precisely at HIT after it was highly recommended to me by a friend who studied here," says Sanjushrree Subash, a second-year Exhibition Design exchange student from the National Institute of Design in Gujarat (NID). "There is a good feeling here among the students. Since studies begin at a later stage in life in Israel because of military service, it appears that the choice of majors is much more decisive, and it's interesting to see that", adds Subash. She notes the high level of the design studies at HIT, which was one of the main reasons for the group of Indian students to come to Israel.

The International Office at HIT supports outgoing and incoming students, helping them to socially and academically integrate and prosper. Nearly annually, 50 overseas students come to the Institute for a semester, studying at the various faculties and enjoying the diverse courses taught in English. In addition, the Student Association assists in accompanying the students throughout their stay and works closely with the International Office and the faculties to ensure that they have a positive experience whilst here.
