In his lecture, Prof. Zajfman shared his insights about the central role of curiosity in scientific breakthroughs, presenting historical and scientific examples.

Prof. Zajfman contributes significantly to science education for youth in Israel, especially in peripheral areas, and serves as Chairman of the Board of the Schwartz-Reisman Science Education Centers. Under his initiative, seven unique physics learning centers were established across the country in collaboration with local authorities and high school administrations.

This year, a new science education center ("The Helmsley Campus") was inaugurated in Netivot in the Western Negev. The President of Israel and his wife honored the opening ceremony with their presence.

Before the lecture, Prof. Eduard Yakubov, President of HIT, said: "I am excited to host Prof. Zajfman here and to announce that we are embarking on a joint path in making science education accessible to Holon's students. Thank you to Prof. Zajfman who has contributed greatly to science and to Israel."

In his lecture, Prof. Zajfman emphasized that high- school science studies go far beyond learning physics, chemistry, or mathematics: "Science imparts values and analytical capabilities important for the younger generation and cultivates a unique way of thinking not always found in other subjects."

The central theme presented in his lecture was "betting on curiosity" as the basis for all scientific progress. According to him, "Scientific development is a contribution to all humanity, and the greatest driving force in science is curiosity." He discussed various scientific processes and demonstrated how unexpected curious questions led to the most significant discoveries.

The event attracted many faculty members from all departments of the Institute, who expressed their appreciation for the fascinating lecture. HIT’s collaboration with Prof. Zajfman will continue in advancing science and shared values, particularly in promoting the much-needed scientific education for Israeli youth.
