RECOGNIZING EXCELLENCE

Prof. David Perry, Dean of Faculty of Industrial Engineering and Management, receives Lifetime Achievement Award at the 23rd National Conference of Industrial Engineering and Management.
 

The prestigious lifetime achievement award, bestowed by the Association of Engineers, Architects, and Graduates in Technical Sciences in Israel (AEAI) for his prolific scientific and educational contribution to the promotion of the field of Stochastic Operations Research in Israel and abroad. The Awards Committee noted that Prof. David Perry's research includes significant theoretical contributions in the fields of applied probability and operations research.

His work in queueing theory and perishable inventory theory has had significant practical applications in various fields, e.g., blood management, organ transplantation, insurance risks, and cash management.

Over his distinguished career, Prof. David Perry published more than 120 research papers in top scientific journals. He served for fourteen years as an editor and guest editor of the Queueing Systems, the flagship journal in the field. In addition, he served as a guest speaker at many international conferences and was invited to serve as a visiting researcher in leading institutions in Canada, China, Denmark, Germany, and Holland, where he received research grants and participated in academic collaborations. 

Prof. Perry also took part in organizing many conferences and supervised several research students, some of whom have flourished in academia and gone on to becoming leading researchers themselves. 

In addition to research, Prof. Perry served in several senior managerial academic positions, including the Head of the Department of Statistics at the Haifa University and the Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Engineering and Management at HIT, a role in which he currently serves.
