HIT and Kenya open channels for cooperation: Our reputation precedes us

Cooperation in Digital Medical Technologies and special projects on Water System Management, are just some of the topics discussed during the official visit of H.E. Samuel N. Thuita, Ambassador of the Republic of Kenya to Israel.

Prof. Eduard Yakubov, President of HIT, opened the visit and presented an overview of HIT. He noted the network of collaborations around the world, which includes both student exchanges and joint research. 

The delegation was impressed by the academic capabilities of HIT, and especially by the innovative study programs like Digital Medical Technologies and Instructional Technologies. “Many international students are studying at HIT, through diverse programs. We invite the academic institutions in Republic of Kenya to join us in cooperation," said Prof. Yakubov.

Dr. Refael Barkan, VP  for Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Internationalization, updated the Ambassador and his delegation about the extensive collaborations of HIT’s Department of Digital Medical Technologies with Israel’s leading medical centers, and the unique role that this department plays in bridging the gap between medicine and artificial intelligence. Our students acquire a unique skillset, which they will deploy after graduation either as doctors with technological savvy, or health and medical big data analysts. 

 
"Today we are already cooperating with Israeli institutions and we would be interested in opening another such channel with HIT” stated the Ambassador of the Republic of Kenya. He added that during his visit to Sheba Medical Center, he was impressed by the advanced medical equipment, and was told that some of the device component were designed and produced by HIT. "This might be our first visit to HIT, but we plan to do it again, and also extend an invitation for a reciprocal visit to our country as well."

 
During the visit, the delegation toured around the campus and the three new student dormitory buildings occupied by about 500 students, including those from Europe, Central Asia, and India.
