Prof. Eduard Yakubov President of HIT opened the ceremony saying "It is a great honor to host you here at our institute to mark the International Holocaust Remembrance Day. Six million Jews perished in the Holocaust, including three members of my own family. The State of Israel where we live today is a living proof of our victory as a people and a nation."

The Philippine Acting Ambassador to Israel Mr. Anthony Achilles Mandap, emphasized the importance of the event and the historical connection between the two peoples: "On behalf of myself and the Philippine Embassy, we are proud of today's event, which tells a part of history unknown to many. We remember the Holocaust victims, but we cannot help but make the connection to the events of October 7, when the lives of both Jews and Filipinos were in danger. 'Blessed is He who releases the bound,'" the ambassador added in Hebrew.

Michal Weiler Tal, Director of Southeast Asia Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said: "This event here is just one of many historical pieces that connect the Jewish people with the fate of the Filipino people. Thank you all for coming."

Michael Sutovsky, Deputy Mayor of Holon, added: "The event we are marking today is a point of light in Jewish history, and from this stage, I hope that the connection between our peoples will only grow stronger."

Following the greetings, the film "Quezon's Game" was screened, telling the story of Philippine President Manuel Quezon and his heroic efforts to save Jews during the Holocaust. The event highlighted the historical and moral connection between the Jewish and Filipino peoples, and the commitment to Holocaust commemoration.
