Great Honor to HIT in Wikipedia's worldwide university ranking

 

HIT was ranked in the respectable 670^th place worldwide, and is the first and only institution among Israel's higher educations institutions in the non-university category, to appear in the latest Wikipedia ranking of world universities.

 

Prof. Eduard Yakubov, President of HIT, said that he sees this with great satisfaction, being an impressive and very important achievement, which is the result of the mutual hard and devoted work of both the academic and the administrative staff at HIT. Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, had developed a ranking method for global university ranking, which ranks the moist influential universities according to exposure and mentioning parameters in Google and Wikipedia itself.

 

 

The new technology based ranking of the world's most influential universities and colleges is based on a computerized analysis that was developed by 2 researches from France who had used special algorithms that are used by Google for ranking websites in search engines and the number of times these institutions were mentioned in Wikipedia. The researchers analyzed 24 different language editions of Wikipedia and over 17 million articles. Old and famous universities like Oxford and Cambridge took the lead followed by American universities such as Harvard, Princeton and Columbia. Among Israeli universities, the Hebrew University in Jerusalem was ranked 47 in the world followed by the Technion in the 108^th place and Ariel University in 321th place. HIT was ranked 670^th in the world and is the only non-university institution to be in this honorable list.
