Towards New Collaborations in Brain Research

   

 

Meeting with HIT's President

IBT – Israel Brain Technologies is a non-profit organization established in 2011. Its vision, inspired by Israel's former president Shimon Peres, is to promote and commercialize innovations in brain science. To this end, IBT supports early stage startups, as well as inventors and entrepreneurs with promising ideas, technologies and applications in the field of brain research.

IBT's mission is to turn Israel into a leading global center for brain research and brain technologies – an important national mission in which HIT is proud to participate.

 

During their visit, IBT's representative met with HIT's President, Prof. Eduard Yakubov, its Vice President of Academic Affairs, Prof. Moti Frank, its Vice President of Academic Development, Prof. Motti Haridim, and the head of its Research, Development and External Relations Authority, Dr. Rafi Barkan.

 

After the meeting, the visitors went on a tour of the Bio-Engineering Center for Excellence, where they heard from Dr. Ronen Sosnik – head of the Center as well as of the Bio-Engineering track in the Faculty of Engineering – and his team members about recent developments in this exciting field.

On hand to meet the visitors was also a substantial group of HIT lecturers and researchers from the departments of Engineering, Science and Design. These researchers were informed by the visitors about IBT's goals and activities, and in turn gave the visitors a comprehensive picture of those activities at HIT which could match IBT's objectives.

The IBT visitors and HIT management and researchers who participated in the discussion soon found a common language, and noted the fertile common ground for collaboration in a number of fields. As the meeting drew to a close, it was decided to continue developing the newly-forged relationship, so as to bring to fruition the plans for collaboration.
