International prestige for HIT - The Ladislav Sutnar Award for a leading academic institution
The faculty of design at HIT has been awarded the "Ladislav Sutnar Prize" for the exceptional quality of its contribution to the development of art and design. The Ladislav Sutnar Award is an initiative by the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Art and Design of the University of West Bohemia (Czech Republic).
Dr. Andrea Sloupová, Deputy Dean of International Affairs Gives the award to Prof. Eduard Yakubov, the President of HIT
The award places HIT on a par with some of the most famous and important institutions in the world, that have received it, such as: Museum of Modern Art in New York (MoMA), The Art Institute of Chicago, Rietveld Academy of Art in Amsterdam, Pratt Institute in New York and more.
The University awards prizes annually, to leading institutions and individuals based on an evaluation of their professional achievements and contributions to the works of art and design
This year it was decided to award the leading institution award to the Faculty of Design at HIT. The award ceremony, which was supposed to take place as early as 2020, was postponed due to the Covid pandemic.

Prof. Eduard Yakubov, who said: "The faculty has won the award following extensive academic activity in broad international and academic aspects. The prestigious award symbolizes the high status of the Faculty of Design in Israel and around the world and this special collaboration with the University of West Bohemia leads to many opportunities to develop and advance the students within the industry".
Prof. David Rawet, Dean of the Faculty of Design: "We are excited to receive the award. The Faculty of Design at HIT sees the international connections with academies around the world as part of its DNA. Academic ties between institutions of higher education and design, enable both parties to share learning and research alongside the execution of groundbreaking projects. Over the past six years, the collaboration with the University of West Bohemia has strengthened and deepened, and we look forward to continuing and expanding our cooperation."
Dr. Yael Eylat Van Essen: “The awarding of the prize from the University of Bohemia is another step in the fruitful collaboration that has been going on for six years which has begun thanks to the HIT's ties with the Czech Embassy. As part of many collaborations between us in the past, the Institute and the University held joint exhibitions and ceremonies and even awarded scholarships to students in the field of design. "
The award ceremony took place in the presence of the President of HIT, Prof. Eduard Yakubov, Dean of the Faculty of Design, Prof. David Rawet, Dr. Yael Eylat Van Essen and Mr. Eitan Bartal of the Faculty of Design, Mr. Moti Mishan, senior advisor to the President of HIT, Mala Braslavsky, Director Research, Innovation and International Authority and Ira Guetta, Director of International Programs at the Research Authority.
