New MoU Between HIT and the Kharkiv Aviation Institute (KhAI)

Holon Institute of Technology (HIT) is the first academic institution in Israel to sign a practical and applied cooperation agreement with the Kharkiv Aviation Institute – National Aerospace University in the Ukraine (KhAI).

The ceremony was attended virtually by senior HIT management: Prof. Eduard Yakubov, President HIT; Dr. Rafael Barkan, Vice-President for Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Internationalization; Mr. Mordechai (Moti) Mishan, President’s Chief of Staff; and Senior Consultant, Mr. Aharon Cohen (Head) and Mr. Mark Israel (Development Director) of the International Project Center.

KhAI was represented by Prof. Nikolay Nechyporuk, Rector; Dr. Sergey Markovich, Deputy-Rector for International Relations; and Taras Golub, Spokesman for Ukrainian-Vice President.

The MOU comes in the wake of an important joint project already begun in the field of Augmented Reality (AR) and announcement of plans for future joint projects in the field of Fintech in general and Skimmers in particular. This latter subject is the focus of great interest in the world of finance, as it is used as an illegal device for defrauding people by copying personal credit or debit card information.

Prof. Yakubov remarked that this is yet one further step forward in enhancing cooperation between HIT and leading scientific and academic institutions around the world, and this newest MOU with KhAI is another example of this strategic priority.

Mark Israel added that by “signing this agreement, HIT is advancing the plan to boost collaboration in hi-tech between the Ukraine and Israel, a program which will officially be launched in January 2021 under the supervision of a joint committee from the two countries headed by Minister of Higher Education and Water Resources, Mr. Ze’ev Elkin.

The ceremony was concluded with a commitment to submit a practical plan for joint development in the field of Skimmers. The program will include, among other things, the establishment of an Automation Laboratory to improve skimmer control as well as a range of other applications.
