New chairman for the Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees, which convened recently, has unanimously elected Mr. Pinchas (Pini) Cohen as its chairman
Mr. Cohen serves today as chairman of the NOY Infrastructure and Energy Investments Fund – the largest Israeli infrastructure fund – as well as chairman and partner in the America Israel Investment Company. In addition, he serves as chairman of Friends of the Rabin Medical Center, and chairman of the Board of Trustees of INSS, Israel's Institute for National Security Studies.
The appointment gave Mr. Cohen a moving sense of closure, since he commenced his academic studies in engineering (some 40 years ago) at the Holon Institute of Technology, which was then a branch of Tel Aviv University. As a student in HIT's very first class, Mr. Cohen had only a few dozen other students as peers. Now, he 'returns' to a flourishing institution, boasting 3,600 currently enrolled students.
In his speech, prof. Eduard Yakubov, HIT's president, noted: "I have no doubts that Mr. Pinchas Cohen's appointment to the position of chairman of the Board of Trustees marches the Institute forward, and we are grateful for his willingness to contribute his time and energy. I am fully convinced that together we will advance the Institute to academic excellence and leadership. On your behalf and mine, allow me to wish Mr. Pini Cohen many years of successful activity, and good luck in achieving all the goals we have set"
