Holon Rotary Awards Scholarships to Outstanding Students

Festive campus meeting between Club members and 5 scholarship recipients

Five students,  all Holon residents studying computer sciences, electrical and electronical engineering, design, industrial engineering and technology management, were awarded a full annual tuition scholarship (NIS 10,000) by the Holon Rotary Club in partnership with HIT and the Holon Municipality.

Above and beyond high academic achievements, in order to qualify for the scholarship, the students – 4 women and one man – each engaged in  60 hours of voluntary community activities in various social and community projects throughout the city of Holon.  Their commitment to social action further advances HIT’s mission of ‘tikkun olam’ coupled with academic excellence.

In the moving meeting held on campus, the students met with the scholarship donors:  Mr. Yitzhak Dor - a large importer of quality clothing and fashion products and Mr. Roi Mashat - one of the owners of Netomedia. Yet another donor, Mr. Shlomo Grofman - former Rotary Governor and Honorary Consul of Kenya in Israel - regretfully was unable to attend.

During the ceremony, HIT's President, Prof. Eduard Yakubov, praised the Rotary organization's contribution to making higher education accessible to all walks of Israel's society.  He also noted the generous contribution of the Holon Municipality, which for many years has partnered with the Institute in promoting higher education in the city of Holon in particular, and in Israel in general. He further stated that the awarding of the scholarships reflected the Institute's vision and mission to ensure that economic hardship will not deny a quality higher education in technology and design to all those who wish to acquire it.

Dean of Students, Dr. Yulia Einav, thanked the Rotary Club for their great initiative and for enabling students to pursue their academic studies without the burden of financial pressures.
