The spokesman for Uzbekistan's Foreign Ministry in a first formal visit to HIT

 
Mr. Adilbek Kaipbergenov, spokesman for the Uzbekistan's Foreign Ministry and Head of the Press service of the Uzbekian Ministry of Foreign Affairs visited HIT for the first time.The guest was accompanied by H.E. Mr. Oybek I. Eshonov Uzbekistan ambassador to Israel and Mr. Murod Guliamov, Vice Ambassador. The guests were welcomed by Prof. Eduard Yakubov, President of HIT and by Prof. David Shoikhet, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Mr. Samuel Goldberg HIT's CEO.

Prof. Yakubov said in his welcome speech that the current visit of the spokesman for Uzbekistan's Foreign Ministry, is the direct result of his numerous visits to Uzbekistan during the past years. "Uzbekistan, a Central Asian country, has chosen a secular and open minded path to becoming a developed and technological state.  I believe that we are at the starting point of a joint path and that together we'll build a bridge between Israel and Uzbekistan, in order to advance together applied research with innovative teaching methods"
 
The state of Israel is considered a superpower with regard to science and technology and is sought after by the Central Asian countries such as Uzbekistan, who wish to study and implement its vast knowledge and experience.

The R&D and External Affairs Authority has initiated collaborations with these countries aiming at training a new generation of engineers and scientists especially in the fields of Cyber and mathematics.

The aim of these collaborations is to advance academic, technological and scientific matters with these institutions for the purpose of:
  • Opening new horizons of advancement of scientists and researchers in Israel.
  • Find new opportunities for the state of Israel in the academic, technological and economic fields.
  • Supply solutions in light of the globalization process that the high educational system is going through such as in-line courses.
 
Collaboration with the Central Asian countries will include research proposals, joint conferences' organization, students and academic staff exchanges, development of joint study programs, development of joint teaching and research projects, joint exhibitions, Sabbaticals for staff members and more.

Lecturers from HIT have assisted in developing new study programs and in mentoring Ph.D. candidates' papers; joint research proposals were prepared for competitive research funds both national and international; On-line Cyber courses were developed by both  HIT and the universities and students delegation visits are planned in order to expose them to the Israeli academia and industry.

The honorable guests were given a tour of the campus which included the SAR Laboratory, the Scientific Atomic Microscope, The Nano-Technology lab, The Robotics Center and the exhibition at the Vitrina Gallery in the faculty of Design.
