Since 2000 Dr. Boris Apter has been at the Holon Institute of Technology, Israel. He is currently a senior lecturer, a head of electrooptics track and a head of the electro-optics and photonics laboratory at the Faculty of Engineering.

• M.Sc. degree in electrical and electronics engineering from the Far-Eastern State Transport University, Khabarovsk, Russia, in 1982.
• Ph.D. degree in physics from the State Research Institute of Optical and Physical Measurements, Moscow, Russia, in 1990.

The OPTO ULSI Laboratory is equipped with an optical table, various optical and opto-mechanical components for building and characterizing electro-optical devices. A powerful computer workstation installed in the laboratory allows for complex numerical simulation and development of nanophotonic and optoelectronic devices with advanced software such as Lumerical Solutions, FullWAVE, Sentaurus, ZEMAX, GSolver, 2dimMOS. The laboratory facilities are used for joint M.Sc. thesis supervision in collaboration with Ben Gurion University.
