Bridging Cultures: Impressive Israeli Typography Exhibition in Czech Republic

The Faculty of Design at HIT Holon Institute of Technology presents "FROM A[א] TO Z[ظ]" at the "Incubator" Gallery, Faculty of Design and Art, at Ladislav Sutnar University of West Bohemia, Pilsen, Czech Republic.

This exhibition which showcases works by HIT students and senior lecturer Avigail Reiner from the Department of Visual Communication, serves as a cultural bridge between Israel and the Czech Republic. The host institution, known for its interdisciplinary approach and innovative ArtCamp program, is a leading design and art school in the Czech Republic.

Reiner explains, "The exhibition demonstrates how design can bridge cultural gaps. All works share a common appreciation for structure and form, showing our ability to communicate visually without words."

Dean Vojtěch Obercht highlights the historical context: "The Jewish community was a significant driver of cultural life in Bohemia and interwar Czechoslovakia. Now we can build new values on these solid historical foundations."

The exhibition features diverse works from HIT courses, including font design, branding, and motion design. It explores the uniqueness and similarities between Hebrew, Arabic, and Latin alphabets, demonstrating design's power to transcend cultural boundaries.

Curator Daniela Kramerová adds: “The exhibition encourages a deeper understanding of the shared nature of writing and promotes mutual understanding between cultures."

This opportunity allows HIT faculty and students to contribute meaningfully to academia and strengthen international collaborations. The International Office team supports these initiatives, funding student delegations abroad through exchange and short-term programs.

The exhibition exemplifies art's ability to connect cultures and foster dialogue, even in challenging times. It showcases HIT's academic excellence and commitment to international cooperation, promoting intercultural understanding through design and typography.
