The senior faculty of HIT Holon Institute of Technology, led by the President, Prof. Eduard Yakubov, hosted a distinguished Singaporean delegation headed by the Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Education of Singapore, Dr. Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman.  The visit was held as part of the Minister's round of visits to the countries of the Middle East.

Prof. Yakubov expounded on HIT’s unique vision for higher education, its expansive academic achievements and the strong ties that exist between local industry and global academia.
During the visit, the delegation learned first-hand about HIT’s diverse faculties, schools and departments, and in particular, about the Institute’s unique degree programs in Digital Medical Technologies and Instructional Technologies. "Future academic cooperation between Israel and Singapore can provide practical solutions to a wide range of problems impacting on all of our lives" said Prof. Eduard Yakubov. "The values that guide us are humanity, innovation and technology, and we are well-positioned to share these common interests with the universities of Singapore, which are among the best in the world".

Dr. Refael Barkan, the Vice President for Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Internationalization and Founder of the Department of Digital Medical Technologies, spoke about the multi-disciplinary eco-system at HIT, which encourages and supports productive interactions between the diverse academic entities. "The School for Multidisciplinary Studies at HIT enables students from various departments and faculties such as Design and Engineering, Instructional Technologies and more, to share their respective knowledge and tools in order to create a common product that will answer a real need and address an existing problem".

The Minister added that this will not be his last visit to HIT and that he is looking forward to the next opportunity to spend time on campus, and even a reciprocal visit by an HIT delegation to Singapore.
