Joint workshop for Design students from HIT and Salzburg, Austria
The first day of the academic year had opened with a joint workshop for students from the Industrial Design department at HIT headed by Luka Or and students from the University of Applied Sciences in Salzburg, Austria. The Austrian students were accompanied by Prof. Mag.Dr. Gunther Grall (FH Vice Rector) and Mr. Michael Ebner from the Faculty of Design.

39 students took part in the 5 day workshop :23 from Austria and 16 from Israel and it consisted of 2 separate workshops: a "Color" workshop headed by designer Na'ama Agassi, graduate of HIT and a "Skills" workshop headed by designer Tal Zur , also a graduate of HIT. The students were divided into several groups which included both Austrian and Israeli students.
At the end of the workshop the students have presented their final products, which were exhibited in the Vitrina gallery at HIT.

One of the interesting works deals with the transition from sketching to a 3D object, where the sketch itself was translated into a 3D object.

Another project dealt with the combination of visual memory and drawing, where the students were asked to draw from their memory objects that they have seen outside. Other project dealt with color and the creation of paint, where the students tried to create paints from various sources and used them on various materials such as textile or wax sticks.

Dr. Doris Walter CEO, Salzburg University of Applied Sciences, said that it is very impressive to see the final outcome of the workshop and also the development warm relationship between all students after such a short period of time together. She had expressed her hope to see HIT students in Salzburg and said that in light of the success of this workshop, another group will come again next year to HIT.

Dr. Einav and the Students Dean's Office with the Salzburg University's CEO
During her visit Dr. Walter had met with HIT's Students Dean Office staff, headed by Dr. Yulia Einav Dean of Students, and heard about HIT's model for representing the diverse students' groups on campus, including minorities and students with special needs. Dr. Walter was impressed by the presentation said that she intends to offer the use of this model in her university.
Austrian National Day event at the Ambassador's residence
A small ceremony was held after the completion of the workshop where all the participants were given certificates of attendance as well as a small souvenir from HIT.
In honor of Austria's National Day, which is today, the president and HIT's senior management as well as the students that took part in the workshop, were invited to a special event at the Austrian Ambassadors' private residence in Herzliya.
