The distinguished guests were received by the President of the Institute, Prof. Eduard Yakubov, and Dr. Refael Barkan, Vice President for Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Internationalism and Founder of the Digital Medical Technologies program at HIT.
Dr. Salti noted at the meeting that the “Abraham Accords” have opened up limitless possibilities for Israel-UAE cooperation, particularly in the medical fields. “As a physician, I have come to recognize that digital medicine is the future, and as technology becomes more complex and unique, I am even more convinced that this is the way to proceed in advancing 21st century medicine and beyond. This meeting is a great start for us to begin collaborating with Israeli research and academic institutions. “
Dr. Refael Barkan presented an overview of the academic and research activities in the Department of Digital Medical Technologies, which is considered a leader in its field and the only one of its kind. He also updated the guests about other R&D and innovation activities taking place across campus.
The guests toured the MADE laboratory where they learned about the joint project being carried out with the Rabin Medical Center. They also visited the Living Lab, one of the few simulation labs in Israel for developing and studying homecare technologies for the elderly. Here, they watched a demonstration of the sensor-driven monitoring capabilities it offers.
