SPEEDY APPROVAL OF B.Sc IN INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING & MANAGEMENT 

Testimony to Excellence from the Council of Higher Education
On the eve of December 23rd, after only two years of probationary status, the Council of Higher Education (CHE) approved the B.Sc. degree in Industrial Engineering and Management at HIT.

The Faculty of Technology Management established the program on a provisionary basis in 2018, and its success has been meteoric. The reason, says Dr. Eyal Brill, incoming Deputy-Vice Dean and Head of Undergraduate Programs in the Faculty, is its flexibility, which allows students and IDF personnel to earn this degree while working full-time – something unique on the academic scene. The Faculty gives personal attention to these students, and provides them the tools they need for professional development in engineering and technology management.

Prof. Shaul Bar-Lev, Dean of the Faculty, remarked on the extraordinarily speedy approval process by the regulator: "The approval of the program by the CHE, after only two years, is an uncommon and unusual event, since final authorization is usually determined after much longer periods of time.

The CHE’s professional committee commended the President of HIT, Prof. Eduard Yakubov, for the quality of the faculty members and for the Institute's serious investment in the Faculty's resources and the establishment of laboratories. The speedy authorization process attests to the high regard in which the CHE holds both the Faculty of Technology Management and the academic status of HIT.” 

The home for the new B.Sc degree in Industrial Engineering and Management is the Faculty of Technology Management, established in 1994.  In almost 3 decades since its founding, the Faculty has trained over 1,500 students, with recent years showing a dramatic upward spiral of students enrolled in the Faculty.

Students can now choose one of two undergraduate degree specializations in the Faculty: Technology Management and Industrial Engineering and Management. Advanced students can earn an M.Sc. in Technology Management in system engineering; quality assurance and reliability; or information technology (IT) management or elective track.

As Dr. Brill concluded: The B.Sc. degree in Industrial Engineering and Management is one that is in extremely high demand, and given our excellence and track record, HIT is now able to expand on its already role in training the ‘best and the brightest’ for Israel’s industry and hi-tech sectors, firmly cementing our reputation as a major player on the scene.“
