Israel Electric Corporation and HIT Explore Future Collaboration in Research and Innovation


Senior executives from the R&D department of the Israel Electric Corporation made an official visit to HIT - Holon Institute of Technology. The visit focused on potential collaboration between the two organizations, as part of HIT's vision to be the "The Academia of the Industry”.

During the meeting, the parties discussed breakthrough technological fields, including the development of smart energy systems, advanced power grid solutions, energy storage technologies, and electricity consumption optimization through innovative materials. HIT, which leads research in fields such as electrical engineering, electronics, and advanced materials, presented its unique capabilities in electrical and electronics engineering, physics, and computer science, as well as its innovative ongoing research.


Prof. Eduard Yakubov, President of HIT, talked about the importance of connecting academia and industry: "We see academia as a key factor in creating technological solutions for the energy and electricity market. The Institute, which defines itself as the “Academia of Industry”


is pleased to collaborate with the Israel Electric Corporation. Such collaboration will allow us to leverage the academic knowledge we have and transform it into applicable solutions that will serve the Israeli economy."


Adv. Gili Haizler, Head of Innovation at the Israel Electric Corporation, noted that innovation is an essential component in addressing Israel's future energy challenges: "We are in an era of rapid changes regarding smart power grids, energy management, and the implementation of advanced technologies in industry. The Israel Electric Corporation is committed to strengthening ties


with leading academic institutions, aiming to develop innovative solutions that will contribute to the energy sector and maintain grid stability."


The collaboration between HIT and the Israel Electric Corporation is not new. The Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering has a Power Systems study track where the corporation's employees’ study, and projects in the electricity field are carried out. Additionally, the CEO of the Israel Electric Corporation, Mr. Meir Spiegler, received an honorary degree from HIT in 2022 for his significant contribution to Israel's energy sector.


During the visit, concrete steps were examined to expand cooperation between HIT and the Israel Electric Corporation, focusing on research and development in green energy, artificial intelligence for power grid management, and innovation in power systems.


The visit concluded with a decision to hold work meetings between teams from the corporation and the institute in the near future, aiming to formulate joint initiatives to promote smart energy in Israel.

The visit emphasized the importance of collaboration between academia and industry, and the great potential in combining technological knowledge and innovation in developing future solutions for the energy sector. HIT continues to work to strengthen its position as a leading research center and strategic partner for Israeli industry.
